Kiwi businesses are facing a wide-range of challenges, from the effects of Covid-19 to climate change and diminishing productivity. Emerging technology will play a crucial role in helping us tackle these challenges. However, so many of our Kiwi businesses have yet to incorporate technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G into their operations.
To help de-mystify emerging technologies and empower Kiwi businesses to take important steps towards digitalisation, Spark launched its Innovation Studio in March 2021. Based in Auckland CBD, the Studio is a place for businesses to test technology solutions operating across Spark’s networks and co-create solutions alongside some of New Zealand’s brightest technology engineers and experts.
Anthem was tasked with leveraging the launch of the Innovation Studio to generate a number of news stories with the objective to increase business customer bookings for tours of the Studio.
Our media relations plan focused on inviting journalists from mainstream, business, and technology publications to experience new forms of the IoT technology operating on Spark’s 5G, LoRa and Cat-M1 networks. 80% of this technology was ready for market, including smart bins and lights, real-time water quality monitoring devices and VR headsets for prospective car shoppers.
The launch event included a range of speakers who spoke to the benefits of emerging technology, including Minister for Digital Economy and Communications David Clark and four Kiwi businesses whose devices were on display in the Studio.
As a result of the launch, we secured 16 pieces of coverage in publications including Stuff, The New Zealand Herald, NBR, and BusinessDesk. After the launch activity, tours for the Studio were booked out a month in advance for a range of organisations including the New Zealand Police, KiwiRail, Auckland Transport, and Auckland Council.
